WhileWunderAndDc comicsThough the two comic book titans together might own most of the world's greatest superheroes, it's been a while since they've really hit it off. Although Marvel and DC regularly crossed paths in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the publishers haven't officially teamed up in over 15 years. However, in 1996 there was a much friendlier relationship between the publishers.

30 spider boy
Spider-Man (Ben Reilly)/Superboy (Kon-El)
For a short time in the mid-1990s, Spider-Man and Superboy were both clones. Though Ben Reilly and Kon-El aren't as prominent as they used to be, the two clones teamed up to create Amalgam's Spider-Boy. After Project Cadmus created Peter Ross, his adopted uncle, General Thunderbolt Ross, died. While battling monstrous foes, Spider-Boy saved innocent lives with distracting, witty banter that also made him a popular celebrity.
In addition to a stylish leather jacket and a net gun, Spider-Boy also has gravity-manipulating powers. Through novel uses of this power, Spider-Boy gained super strength, increased agility, and the ability to walk on walls - a hybrid of theseThe amazing powers of Spider-Manand Conner Kents.
29 Dark Claw
Wolverine/Batman
While DC's Batman and Marvel's Wolverine share tragic lives and fierce fighting styles, the two icons aren't the most obvious pairing. Still, Amalgam saw the two symbols merge into Dark Claw. After Logan Wayne's parents died, he moved to Canada with his uncle until he died too.
Dark Claw had a staggering array of abilities. That makes sense for someone who combinesWolverine's many legendary powersusing Batman's skills, intellect and resources. With his healing factor, genius intellect, adamantium claws, and mastery of 127 fighting styles, Dark Claw was bad news for every criminal in New Gotham City.
28 Hyena
Saber Tooth Tiger/Joker
As Batman and Logan merged into Dark Claw, their arch-rivals, the Joker and Sabretooth, merged into Hyena. Dark Claw's perfectly named nemesis was originally Creed Harley Quinn. Like Dark Claw, Creed went through the Weapon X project, which gave him a bizarre appearance and adamantium claws on his fingertips.
RELATED:10 Mighty DC Villains That Have Gone Without A Trace
While his healing factor saved his life, it didn't save Creed's sanity. After becoming too wild for Weapon X, the hyena devoted herself to eliminating Dark Claw. Along with his other abilities, the hyena also has superpowers and a variety of destructive gadgets like Frolic Frags.
27 spook
Gambit/Obsidian
On the surface,Gambit, the X-Men's card-throwing Cajunand Obsidian, the occasionally evil son of DC's first Green Lantern, have little in common. Nonetheless, the mutant and shadow-controlling anti-hero were blended together to create Amalgam's Wraith.
After growing up in New Orleans, LeBeau was given a set of magical playing cards that activated his metamutant abilities. Using his shadowy powers, Wraith could become immaterial, manipulate his size, charge objects with his dark kinetic energy, and possessed limited telepathic abilities which he used in the Justice League's X-Men.
26 Shatterstarfire
Shatterstar/Starfire
When Marvel's Shatterstar and DC's Starfire were merged, the resulting amalgam creation was of course called the Shatterstarfire. While that name might make the character seem like a joke, there are a lot of similarities in Shatterstarfire's originsthe alien X-Force memberand the alien Teen Titan.
After Princess Koriand'ru was kidnapped from her subatomic home of Tamojoran, she joined the X-Patrol, a meta-mutant super-team. Although she never fully adjusted to Earth, she was one of its most powerful heroes. With the combined abilities of Starfire and Shatterstar, she could fly, possessed super strength, and projected bursts of energy. In addition, Shatterstarfire was an exceptionally skilled and incredibly agile fighter.
25 Brother Bread
Brother Blood/The Brood
While Amalgam wasn't around long, it did a great job of merging vastly different concepts in characters like Brother Brood. While Brother Blood is a DC cult leader battling the Teen Titans, the Brood are essentially Marvel's version ofextraterrestrial's parasitic Xenomorphs.
RELATED:Top 15 Most Popular Marvel Characters, Ranked
As the leader of the Brood cult, Brother Brood commanded an ever-growing army of alien Brood and brainwashed students. Despite their power, Brood's army wandered mindlessly after his defeat.
24 Captain Marvel
Shazam/Mar-Vel
Between the Marvel and DC universes, 11 major heroes were named Captain Marvel at some point. During Marvel'sCarol Danvers has the strongest claimToday, largely due to court cases, two other Captain Marvels merged into Amalgam's Captain Marvel.
Marvel's Kree alien hero Mar-Vell has been combined with DC's young Billy Batson who transforms into the hero now named Shazam! In the Amalgam universe, young Billy Mar-Vell transformed into adult, alien-powered Captain Marvel by shouting "Kree!" This "super science" hero possessed most of Shazam's powers, including immense super strength, super speed, and the ability to fly, to name a few.
23 Niles-Cable
Professor Niles Caulder/Cable
While Marvel's time-travelling psychic mutant is one of the defining characters of the 1990s, DC's Niles Caulder, boss of the unlikely team Doom Patrol, was far more understated. Niles Caulder of Amalgam got the chief's red hair and beard. However, his origin, powers, and appearance come from Cable, the character who came from an alternate future and was sent back to prevent this.
Despite his immense telepathic abilities and cybernetic enhancements, Niles Cable was briefly unable to move his legs after battling Doctor Doomsday. Still, he managed to help X-Patrol prevent a dark future controlled by Brother Brood.
22 Sinistron
Mister Sinister/Psimon/Ultron/Brainiac/Nimrod
While most Amalgam characters are just two-character combinations, some characters use aspects of multiple Marvel and DC characters. Technically, robotic amalgam villain Sinistron is a combination of MarvelsX-Men villain Mister Sinisterand DC's Titans villain Psimon. However, Sinistron also brings in aspects of robotic villains like Marvel's Ultron and Nimrod and DC's Brainiac.
Though designed to be the ultimate metamutant-hunting Sentinel, Sinistron rebelled against his creator, Will Magnus. Using his adamantium body, mind-controlling encephalo ray, technological genius, and numerous energy weapons, he sought to create a world-conquering meta-mutant army on the island of Genosha.
21 The four-armed thing
Das Ding/Rocky Davis
As the name suggests, the Four Armed Thing is a version of the Fantastic Four Thing with an extra set of arms. While Rocky Grimm's look borrowed heavily from Marvel's superpowered hero, he was combined with DC's human adventurer Rocky Davischallenger of the unknown,InChallenger of the Fantastic.
RELATED:10 DC villains who are stronger than their parents
Like his adventurous teammates, Grimm "cheated" death after his experimental spacecraft crash-landed. The cosmic villain Galactiac transformed Rocky into the Thing just before the rampaging hero used his immense power to destroy the alien's ship.
20 mercury
Impuls/Quicksilver
While Marvel andDC both have lots of speedsters, Amalgam's Mercury is a somewhat unlikely combination of the Avengers' Quicksilver, Marvel's most famous speedster, and DC's Impulse, a younger speedster from the far future. Pietro Allen from Amalgam also came from a distant future ruled by Sentinels hunting metamutants.
Despite his strict upbringing, Mercury was an annoyingly optimistic presence among the Justice League's X-Men. As with most speedsters, Mercury's main superpower is his superspeed, which allows him to move and think incredibly fast. Although the true nature of his powers is unclear, he may also have used them for time travel to the modern age.
19 Eisenlaterne
Iron Man/Green Lantern
As the 2000s progressed, both Iron Man and Green Lantern became significantly more famous. By coincidence, Marvel's Armored Avenger and DC's Emerald Warrior were also combined into Amalgam's Iron Lantern in 1997. While testing an experimental aircraft, inventor Hal Stark was drawn to an alien crash site.
While his quick thinking saved his life, it also gave the Iron Lantern a dozen superpowers. In addition to the numerous abilities of Iron Man's standard armor, the Iron Lantern can create solid energy constructs and travel through time.
18 Aqua-Mariner
Aquaman/Namor The submarine driver
Not surprisingly, Aquaman and Namor the Sub-Mariner, DC and Marvel's respective kings of Atlantis, came together to create the Aqua-Mariner, Amalgam's sea hero. In Amalgam's world, Arthur McKenzie first emerged as a hero during World War II and began his ongoing quest to find the lost city of Atlantis.
RELATED:10 Brilliant Marvel Scientists Who Still Can't Rival The High Evolutionary
On his ongoing quest to find his ancestral home, Atlantis, the Aqua-Mariner was eventually joined by members of the metamutant team JLX, who were also able to trace their powers back to the underwater realm. Like Aquaman and Namor, Aqua-Mariner has significant superpowers, increased speed, and a variety of other abilities that are particularly effective in the water.
17 Magneto
Magneto/Will Magnus
On the surface, it might be difficult to see too many differences between Marvel's Magneto and Amalgam's Magneto. While both may have the same name, similar costumes, and identical powers, Amalgam's Magneto was also based on DC's Will Magnus, the robotics genius who built the Metal Men.
As a group of Anti-Sentinels, the unlikely Magnetic Men fought for the rights of the metamutants. While Amalgam's Magneto has the same powers as its famous namesake, Magnus is far smarter and uses his abilities in more innovative ways.
16 Herr X
Martian Hunter/Professor X/Skrull
In the Amalgam universe, Mister Eventually, X was revealed to be J'onn J'onzz in disguise, a shape-shifting Skrullian Manhunter from Mars.
Inspired by Marvel's Professor X and DC's Martian Manhunter, Mister X possessed immense telepathic abilities thanks to his unique alien physiology. His extraterrestrial parentage also gave him considerable shapeshifting abilities, allowing him to go undetected for a long but unknown amount of time. As if that wasn't enough, he also possesses super strength and a measure of super speed.
15 To sneak
Hulk/Solomon Grundy
WhileHulk is a prominent Marvel character, his counterpart from the Amalgam universe, Skulk, only plays a supporting role. As Doctor Strangefate's henchman, Skulk is a super-powered beast inspired in part by mindless DC villain Solomon Grundy.
In exchange for his services, Strangefate helped Banner control his monstrous Skulk form. Since Hulk and Grundy are two of the strongest characters in their world, Skulk is almost certainly the most physically strong amalgam character.
14 Super Soldier
Superman/Captain America
Like Marvel's Captain America and DC's Superman and the greatest heroes in their respective universes, their amalgamation, Super-Soldier, is the epitome of heroism in the Amalgam universe. As part of an effort to create a super soldier, the human Clark Kent was injected with a formula derived from an alien that crash-landed on Earth in the 1930s.
RELATED:10 Marvel Characters Too Difficult To Adapt To A Video Game
After fighting in World War II, Super-Soldier spent years frozen in the Atlantic before returning to active service. In addition to Superman's wealth of powers, Super-Soldier also possesses Cap's combat prowess and an indestructible S-shaped vibranium shield.
13 child demon
Wally West/Ghost Rider
Some of Amalgam's weirder pairings have paired a couple of DC speedsters with some of Marvel's supernatural spirits of vengeance. For example,Wally West, the second modern Flash, merged with Danny Ketch, the second modern Ghost Rider, to form Kid Demon. After West found out his uncle was the speed demon, the wizard Merlin bestowed on him supernatural powers.
Though his power stems from the villainous Night Specter, Kid Demon possesses fire manipulating abilities, a mystical chain, and a flaming motorcycle that moves at top speed. His skills were largely untried, but he began working with Speed Demon as his sidekick.
12 Doktor Doomsday
Doctor Doom/Doomsday
In another of Amalgam's simplest yet most inspiring combinations, Marvel's Doctor Doom and DC's Doomsday merged into Doctor Doomsday. When the brilliant Victor Von Doom found the body of the alien Doomsday, one of the monster's bony protuberances scarred Doom's face, transforming him into the equally monstrous Doctor Doomsday.
RELATED:The 10 Best DC Comics Series of 2020 (So Far)
Despite his hideous appearance, Doctor Doomsday still possesses Doom's technological genius and high-tech armor. Coupled with the monster's limitless power and regenerative abilities, Doctor Doomsday is one of the strongest and smartest characters in the Amalgam Universe.
11 Amazonas
Wonder Woman/Storm
Amazon is one of the signature creations of the Amalgam universe.Inspired by DC's Wonder Womanand Marvel's Storm, Ororo was adopted by Queen Hippolyte when she was found on Themyscira as a child. After Ororo's weather-controlling metamutant powers emerged, she won the title of Wonder Woman. Ororo became the ambassador of the Amazons in the male world in place of her sister Diana.
In addition to her weather manipulating powers, Amazon also possessed Wonder Woman's impressive powers such as flight and super strength. She could also create a "lasso" out of lightning that would force anyone caught in its shocking grasp to tell the truth.
