homecoming
FERRIX – Reunited with his adoptive mother Maarva (Fiona Shaw) Cassian tries to get her and the lovable droid B2EMO (aka Bee) to flee the dank industrial world with him and live a life of luxury with his share of the heist money. With the increasing Imperial presence, this seems like the best move.
However, Maarva has been energized by news of the raid (although she is unaware of Cassian's involvement) and the feeling that someone is finally standing up to the Empire, so she decides to stay here and help the rebellion in some way.

We also get some harrowing flashbacks to 13 years ago, to the era immediately following the rise of the Empire in Revenge of the Sith. Cassian's adoptive father Clem tries to calm a rebellious situation, and apparently he was killed by the clone troopers in the process. The image of him hanging in the town square (asLuther alluded to it) is pretty dark and sad.
Cassian then attacked the soldiers, and that landed him in prison as a teenager. Maarva is clearly haunted by the incident, and it seems like a real rebellion is just what she needs. Hope this doesn't kill her.
Our hero also has a brief reunion with his girlfriend/former flame Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona)to pay off all his debts to the people of Ferrix and to remind us that he's a basically decent guy before he leaves the planet. He also asks her to let Luthen know that he has held backits end of their deal.
The Empire Strikes Back
CORUSCANT - Emperor Palpatine is deeply unhappy at the rebel robbery, and Colonel Wullf Yularen of the Imperial Security Bureau (Malcolm Sinclair) announces the Public Order Resentencing Directive (PORD, which is funny to say), which will crack down on rebellious activity, ensure tougher sentencing for all types of crimes, and pretty much empower the agency to do whatever it wants. Bad times are ahead.
"The only question we have to answer is how tightly do we clench our fists," he says ominously.
You may remember Yularen for his brief appearance alongside the guy Darth Vader is chokingin the Death Star conference roomin A New Hope (he meets his end when the Imperial superweapon is blown up). He was also a regular ally of the Republican heroes in The Clone Wars andappeared in Rebelsto.
Dedra believes they're playing right into the hands of the rebels, as the bigwigs still treat it like a typical robbery rather than a rebellion. The harsh reaction is likely to drive more ordinary people to resist.

Her ISB rival eventually calls her out in a tense meeting, admitting she used the new law to gather data outside her jurisdiction and prove it indicates an organized rebellion. Your gambit works; The Morlana sector is reassigned to her so she can get a closer look at Ferrix.
"Well played," says her boss Major Partagaz (Anton Lesser) afterwards. "Look out."
We're in for some delicious Imperial backstabbing, I think. They are all so awful and I love them - please give us a Disney Plus Mean Imperials show.
The dark side of rebellion
When Mon Mothma visits rebel co-conspirator Luthen Rael at his antique shop, we learn that he set the heist in motion without her knowledge. The money was just a benefit; A brazen campaign was also devised to force the Empire to respond in the only way possible: with harsh totalitarian means.
"The Empire is choking us so slowly we don't even notice," he says, oscillating between his goofy personality and his true self so as not to make Mon's driver suspicious.

He wants to make ordinary people aware of the regime's evil, which is likely to attract more recruits to rebellion. The suffering these methods cause is acceptable.
It turns out that Cassian is another acceptable loss when his former heist buddy Vel Sartha (Faye Marsay) arrives on Coruscant. She firmly believes in the rebellion and Luthen's assistant/confidant Kleya Marki (Elisabeth Dulau) tasks her with killing Cassian because he can identify Luthen for the Empire. Seems like the sort of exercise Palpatine would engage in, well done rebels.
strong politics
During a rambunctious meeting at her apartment, Mon hangs out with banker buddy Tay Kolma (Ben Miles) and expresses her desire for him to lead a charitable foundation. This is part of her plan to access her family fortune, but it's unclear why she was cut off.
In a subtext-packed scene, Tay confesses that she harbors strong anti-imperial sentiments and Mon hints that they are on the same side, without revealing the depths of their rebellious efforts. She reveals that her entire political persona is a facade designed to mislead everyone.

"I learned from Palpatine. I'll show you the stone in my hand, you'll miss the knife at your throat," she says, alluding to the Emperor's legislative machinations in the prequel trilogy. "As long as everyone thinks I'm a nuisance, there's a good chance they're missing out on what I'm really doing."
'Hanging'
NIAMOS - The final big moments of the episode find Cassian in this beautiful beach world, where he has a cute pad, a girlfriend, and Keef Girgo (a name so forgotten he doesn't respond to it on several occasions).
Unfortunately, he is soon reminded that escaping Imperial oppression is impossible. On his morning walk to the store, a Coast Trooper falsely accuses him of being part of anti-Imperial activity and orders a passing KX security droid to "hold this one down" for him.
The imposing droid, unable to understand the trooper's casual language, lifts Cassian into the air and pinches him against a wall with his neck.

"Stop," the droid says darkly.
Aside from the shortness of breath, Cassian probably hits another nerve as his adoptive father Clem was hanged by the Empire years ago after trying to defuse a rebellious situation.
This close encounter with a KX unit will likely inspire Cassian to reprogram K-2SO, the former Imperial droid he befriends in Rogue One, but that won't happen for a few years. Their first encounter is shown inCassian & K-2SO Special 2017 von Marvel Comics.
For now, however, Cassian is sentenced to six years in prison for civil unrest, anti-imperial speech, fleeing anti-imperial activity, and attempted damage to imperial property. Before the raid that followed the Aldhani raid, that would have been a six-month sentence, the bored judge notes, but our boy is serving a six-year sentence. Ouch. At least he has time to read Nemiksfantastic Manifest.
Should have left out the Peezos and Revnog.
