HOW CAN WE HELP YOU? (2023)

Proper travel documents are required upon embarkation and throughout the cruise. Even if a guest has completed registration through online check-in, it is still the guest's responsibility to present the required travel documents at the time of embarkation. Guests should check with their travel agent and/or government agency which travel documents are required for each port of call. Guests without proper documentation will be denied boarding and no cruise fare refund will be given. Carnival assumes no responsibility for informing guests of proper travel documentation.

Carnival strongly recommends that all guests travel with a passport that is valid for at least six months after completion of travel. This will improve the disembarkation experience as delays can be expected when returning to the United States for those without disembarkation. It also allows guests to fly from the United States to pick up their ship at a foreign port in the event they miss their scheduled port of embarkation, and guests who have an emergency need to disembark before the end of their cruise to board the return flight in the United States allow States without significant delays and complications.

European and transatlantic cruises

US citizens must carry a passport that is valid for six months beyond the date of their visit. Guests do not need a Schengen visa or any other visa.

Domestic Cruises

For cruises embarking and terminating in a US port, the following WHTI compliant cruise travel documents are acceptable. This standard documentation allows the Department of Homeland Security to quickly and reliably identify a traveler. If an image I.D. is not affixed to the WHTI compliant document, photo identification is required. is required (a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID for all guests 16 years and older). Also, for cruises (cruises that begin and end in a US port), it is permissible for US citizens to present proof of citizenship, e.g. B. All persons must have a valid, unexpired US passport for air travel to or from the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. Passport requirements do NOT apply to US citizens traveling to or returning directly from a US territory. (Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands: St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix).

Effective May 7, 2025, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security requires every resident of a state and territory to present a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or other acceptable identification such as a passport or enhanced driver's license for airport security screening when boarding a flight within the US. If you are flying to any of our US cruise homeports on or after this implementation date, please ensure you have acceptable documentation for your air travel. Note: In addition, all guests must remain in possession of WHTI compliant travel documentation (proof of citizenship and/or equivalent visas) in order to board a cruise.

names on travel documents

It is important that the guest's full name (first and last name) on the cruise and airline tickets match the guest's unexpired government-issued photo ID. You plan to use them for trip identification. If there is no second parent who has legal rights to the minor (due to sole custody, deceased, etc.), it would make sense to provide other relevant documentation such as a court decision, a death certificate or a birth certificate naming only one parent, submit a signed letter. This speeds up processing by the Department of Homeland Security.

Citizens of US Territories and Commonwealth

The same travel documentation requirements apply to guests. US Territories and Commonwealth include: Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John), America Samoa, Swains Island and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Valid US passport

US citizens may present a valid, unexpired US passport when traveling by air, land, or sea. Carnival strongly recommends that all guests travel with a passport that is valid for at least six months after completion of travel.

The Passports

The pass card cannot be used for air travel outside of the United States.

US citizens may present a limited-use, wallet-sized passport card. The Passport Card is only valid for land and sea travel between the United States and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda.

State Extended Driver's License (EDL)

The state enhanced driver's license cannot be used for air travel outside of the United States.

Several states are working with the Department of Homeland Security to develop an EDL for US citizens residing in their states. This document establishes both citizenship and identity and facilitates the immigration process at both land and sea ports. The words "Enhanced Driver's License" and the American flag appear on the driver's license. The following states issue this type of WHTI compliant document: Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington.

A driver's license with a star-cut gold circle in the upper right corner is a Real ID driver's license; It is not an extended driver's license and cannot be used as proof of citizenship, but can be used as photo ID.

Original certificate of US citizenship and a government issued photo ID.

The U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570) is a document issued by the United States government (USCIS) as proof that a foreign-born person acquired U.S. citizenship through naturalization (a legal process for obtaining a new nationality) received. . Photocopies of the original document are not acceptable.

Native American Indians

These cards cannot be used for air travel outside of the United States.

Birth Certificate Information

The following is acceptable:

• An original or copy of a birth certificate issued by a government agency (state/county/city) or the Department of Health and Vital Statistics
• A clear, legible copy (photocopy) of a birth certificate originally issued by a government agency (state/county/city) or the Department of Health and Vital Statistics. The copy does not need to be notarized or authenticated.

Puerto Rico birth certificates issued before July 1, 2010 are not valid proof of citizenship and are not accepted by US Customs and Border Protection. Puerto Rico guests must present either a WHTI compliant document or government-issued photo ID. with a valid birth certificate issued after July 1, 2010.

An unexpired government-issued photo ID. is required for all guests aged 16 and over. The following is acceptable:

• Driving license (a provisional driving license with photo is acceptable)
• Driver's license
• School/Student ID (acceptable for guests aged 16/17/18)
• Government-issued ID card, including a US military ID card. with Photo (City/Province/Province)
• Government-issued Trusted Traveler Program membership card (NEXUS/SENTRI/FAST) - for photo ID use only
