Both Disney's MCU and Warner Bros. DCEU have extensive movie slates planned for 2022, but which comic book movie franchise will be better?
BothMarvel Cinematic Universeand theDC Expanded Universehave many plans for 2021, but which franchise will have a better year? The centuries-old print rivalry between Marvel and DC has continued in their theatrical adaptations, with their respective theatrical universes in the MCU and DCEU. Many have spoken out on the debate, given the different success rates of the two franchises. Humans involved in these expanding universes have long debunked the notion that there is bad blood between them. Still, friendly competition can't hurt, as it motivates both Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. to improve the quality of their films.

Superhero movies have dominated the box officein recent years thanks largely to Marvel Studios, which has released a total of 26 blockbusters since launching in 2008. The MCU began with Robert Downey Jr. and Jon FavreauIronmanwhich was a complete success. It motivated Kevin Feige and his team to continue developing the universe with 2012The Avengersacted as his first climax event. After more than a decade of the Infinity Saga, the MCU is now rebuilding itself in Phase 4. The DCEU, on the other hand, got off to a late start, only debuting in 2013 via Zack Snydersman of Steel. Given the controversy and production problems, it had a harder time establishing itself. But now it looks like theDCEU has finally taken root.

The two biggest players in the superhero movie sandbox have a slew of new releases planned for the next few years, and there's no sign of things slowing down. But 2022 is a particularly interesting time, as the MCU and DCEU have a very different mix of films for fans to see. Based on the respective plans, it's exciting to explore which franchise will have better releases compared to the other.
Every DC movie coming out in 2022
Warner Bros. has five DC movies lined up for 2022 after a poor 2021 with just James GunnsThe Suicide Squadrelease. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the schedule has been reshuffled and changed a few times, but it looks like the schedule is finally on track. DC opens in 2022 with the highly anticipated opening concertThere Batmanwhich hits theaters on March 4th; The film will be directed by Matt ReevesIntroduce Robert Pattinson as the next Caped Crusader. But while taking over the project from Ben Affleck, who was set to write, direct and star, the blockbuster is set in a separate universe from the DCEU.
Warner Bros. follows with the animated film:DC's League of Super Pets, on May 20th. The film revolves around Superman's dog Krypto (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) who assembles his own team to rescue the captive Justice League. The rest of Warner Bros.' Movies for 2022 are all within the DCEU. On July 29, Johnson will officially debut as Black Adam in Jaume Collet-Serra's filmBlack Adam. After years in production limbo, the film is finally coming to theaters and will introduce the Justice Society of America alongside its title character.
Meanwhile, Andy MuschiettisThe LightningEzra Miller will reprise his role as Barry Allen in this time travel/universe hopping adventure that will seeMichael Keaton and Ben AffleckAlso, be sure to revisit their respective versions of Batman. Every Marvel movie coming out in 2022
Much like the DCEU, the Marvel Studios MCU has also had to change its cast a few times due to the coronavirus pandemic. Three films are currently planned for 2022 – and all of them will be sequels. The starting shot will be given on May 6thDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessdirected by Sam Raimi and starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the series' main magician. The film will also see the return ofElizabeth Olsens Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wongs Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofors Mordo und Rachel McAdams‘ Christine Palmer.
This is followed by Taika WaititisThor: Love and Thunder, a project marking his MCU reunion with Chris Hemsworth since 2017Thor: Ragnarok. Marvel Studios is getting bigger for the fourth timeThorThe film is slated to premiere in theaters July 8 and will assemble a star-studded cast that will include Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and several actors from the filmProtector of the Galaxymovies. Meanwhile, as part of the film, Russell Crowe and Christian Bale officially join the MCU as Zeus and Gorr the God Slayer.
The last Marvel Studios film of 2022 is Ryan Coogler'sBlack Panther: Wakanda"Forever," which is progressing after the untimely death of its lead actor, Chadwick Boseman, in 2020. Who wins: Marvel vs. DC Movies in 2022
In terms of quantity, DC is the clear winner in this duel. Warner Bros. has five DC movies in 2022, while Marvel Studios has three. Apart from that, DC also scores in terms of variety, which makes the program more exciting overall.
